Well… What an intense experience.

9.30 till 1 and then it is no longer. The 100 word play is left in the hands of the exceptional directors. Thank god.

We began the day by working towards the play we were going to write. First 10 words. Then 20 with two scenes. As you might imagine this was tricky tricky business.

At the start of Tuesday morning I was feeling a bit hyped from too much caffeine and nerves, as I’d never done anything like this before. First of all, Natasha told us a bit about the project, how it came about and where it may go – although it’s difficult to say at the moment as it’s just the start.

Speed…A false God?

A director once gave me some advice. ‘Speed is a false God’, he said after I broke the sound barrier on my way to rehearsal. He was right, but in his weary understanding came to light his constant and somewhat ironic struggle with this modern disease; a dominating aspect of both youth and age that I would at once have to capture and wilfully obey during Friday’s frantic pace.

Never has an evening of theatre so closely resembled a fireworks display. The audience were still uttering their “Ooohs” and “Aaahhs” at the last play, as the next rushed on to take its place.
